Wyz Wimmin & Friends in Kempsey and Bowraville with ‘SHE’

AFTER having been on stage in Dorrigo, the Wyz Wimmin & Friends’ all-new production ‘SHE’ will be on stage at Kempsey’s Bandbox Theatre over the weekend of 15-16th August and at Bowraville Theatre on Saturday 22 August at 7pm for its closing performance.

“This production builds on what we have presented over the past 10 years,” producer Carrolline Rhodes said. “There are our signature monologues, of course, but also on the program is a one-act play that is described by its playwright as being a dark comedy.

“Add to that a collection of dramatic monologues that come together as a play with three scenes and we think audiences will be talking about ‘SHE’ long after curtain call.

“The Company began in 2016 when two friends and I (all highly skilled theatre practitioners) got together.

“We were very aware that television, film, and theatre were dominated by American and British culture.

“We wanted to tell regional stories, written by local playwrights.

“The result is a theatre company that is almost certainly unique in the whole of Australia, and audiences have been quick with their praise.

“We present contemporary adult themes, and our material is as up-to-date as today’s headlines.

“Everything you need to know about ‘SHE’ is on our website, and this is the place to book tickets which are $30 (plus a small booking fee).

“Tickets will also be available at the door, but please note cash only – we do not have EFTPOS.

“We now have 21 members and if you would like to be part of the Wyz Wimmin & Friends Theatre Company as a tech, front-of-house, actor or playwright, please get in touch.

“Better yet, buy a ticket and come along. Once you see us on stage, you will want to join us.”
