Nambucca Valley Council launches inaugural events grant program

EVENT organisers with a vision are encouraged to apply for a grant to bring their idea to life and help the Nambucca Valley build a vibrant year-round calendar of events.

Nambucca Valley Council (NVC) is seeking major events that will showcase the area’s natural assets and strengthen the local economy by increasing visitation and creating business opportunities.

It is hoped that NVC’s Major Event Sponsorship Program will strengthen the region’s reputation as an events destination.

Nambucca Valley Mayor Gary Lee said the new program was a significant investment by Council.

“Major events play an important role in strengthening our local economy, creating opportunities for businesses and showcasing everything that makes our valley a special place to visit.

“I encourage event organisers to get involved in this new opportunity.”

There are two funding streams available to applicants; one for emerging major events and the other for established, major events.

  • Tier 1 Major Event Sponsorship Funding will provide between $5001 and $10,000 for established events that attract overnight visitors and generate significant economic impact.
  • Tier 2 Emerging Major Event Sponsorship Funding will provide up to $5000 for emerging events that attract visitors from outside the Nambucca Valley and showcase the area’s unique strengths and attractions.

Nambucca Valley Council Acting General Manager David Moloney said the new Major Event Sponsorship Program was a competitive program that would help to attract and grow events that increased visitation, encouraged overnight stays and activated local towns and villages.

“Council is accepting applications now up until Monday 28 September 2026,” he said.

“So I encourage local event organisers to visit Council’s website and review the program guidelines and eligibility criteria and consider applying by the end of this month.”

Events funded through the program must be delivered within the Nambucca Valley Local Government Area and demonstrate clear economic and visitation benefits.

Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in October 2026. Events need to be delivered by Q4 2027, at the latest.
