GRASSY Head Road rehabilitation works are complete and the road is open.
Nambucca Valley Council Acting General Manager David Moloney said the road was bitumen spray sealed and then rolled with a multi-tyre roller to compact the road’s surface.
“Our team did a lot of structural rehabilitation work on this road due to the swampy ground surrounding its eastern-side,” Mr Moloney said.
“The north-bound lane was dug out to 400-500 millimetres deep and a layer of gabion rock was placed to provide good drainage.
“Next, an approximate 200mm layer of densely graded road base was placed and the road was prepared for sealing.
“I would like to thank our community for their patience and cooperation while we completed this essential upgrade.”
Line marking on this section of Grassy Head Road will be carried out in the coming weeks.
