THE Scotts Head community is being invited by Nambucca Valley Council to have a say on the future of the town’s foreshore and public spaces, as it begins work on a new masterplan.
Council’s General Manager Bede Spannagle, said the goal is to understand what land management practices are working well and where improvements could be made.
“Scotts Head is blessed with pristine beaches, a renowned surf break, a beautiful estuary, and a well-maintained caravan park managed by Reflections Holidays,” Mr Spannagle told News Of The Area.
“We want to build on these strengths by developing a clear plan that helps identify, coordinate and communicate the roles and responsibilities of the three key land managers in the area who are Crown Lands, Reflections Holidays and Council.”
To support the development of the masterplan, council is calling for expressions of interest from community members who would like to join the Scotts Head Masterplan Project Reference Group.
The group will include five local representatives consisting of three community members, one youth representative and one representative from the Scotts Head Community Group.
They will be joined by representatives from Crown Lands, Reflections Holidays, Mayor Gary Lee, Council’s Director of Engineering Services David Moloney, and project consultants from Locale Consulting.
“The reference group will work closely with Council staff and consultants to provide meaningful, representative input throughout 2026,” Mr Spannagle explained.
“While the group will not have a decision-making role, it will play a crucial part in shaping the draft plan.”
Community engagement for the broader Scotts Head community is planned for March–April 2026, with the draft masterplan to be exhibited for further public comment around August–September 2026.
Reflections Holidays is contributing $19,800 to support the plan’s development and is also part of the partnership driving this collaborative planning process.
Those interested in helping shape Scotts Head’s future are encouraged to submit their expression of interest before 5pm, Monday 12 January, via the Council website nambucca.nsw.gov.au/Community/Get-Involved/Scotts-Head-Masterplan
