AFTER many years of lobbying, a new medical outreach clinic has launched in Stuarts Point.
Run by Macksville Medical Centre, “Point Care” will be open every Tuesday from 9am to 12pm at the Stuarts Point Hall.
The delivery of the clinic has been supported by organisations such as the CWA, Stuarts Point Pharmacy, the Stuarts Point Hall Committee, Healthy North Coast and Stuarts Point and District Community Organisation (SPaDCO).
“We are really excited to be bringing high-quality, patient focused care to the Stuarts Point community,” Macksville Medical Centre Practice Manager Casey Shorter told local residents at a recent information session at the Hall.
“Our goal is to support long-term health through continuity of care.”
The clinic occupies a dedicated and private space in the hall, accessed via the side veranda doors, and the initial opening on April 14 saw Dr Muhammad Azam welcome seven patients.
“Some are brand new to the practice, others are existing patients I’d been seeing in Macksville who are very pleased to have the facility in the village,” Dr Azam said.
Appointments can be made by phoning Macksville Medical Centre on 6568 1155.
Alternatively, urgent appointments can be made at the Stuarts Point Pharmacy, who will maintain the regular vaccination facility.
Macksville Medical Centre is accepting new and existing patients to Point Care and hopes to expand the service in the future.
