NAMBUCCA Valley Council has teamed up with Nambucca Valley News of the Area to run a Shop Local campaign this October.
The aim of the campaign is to showcase the Valley’s quality businesses across print and digital media and to encourage people to spend more in the valley during Small Business Month.
Nambucca Valley Council Manager Economic Development and Tourism Jan Rooney said Council is leading the initiative, which was outlined as an action in Council’s Delivery Program 2025-2029, to help support local businesses.
“Small businesses are the heart of our communities – they create local jobs, support community organisations and help shape the unique character of our towns,” she said.
“This Small Business Month, we’re encouraging residents to think local first and support the businesses that support us every day. Every dollar spent locally helps strengthen our regional economy and keep our communities vibrant.
“Our Shop Local campaign is designed to put the spotlight on the outstanding businesses that keep our communities thriving. Whether you’re a retailer, café, tradie or service provider, I encourage all local businesses to get involved, share their story and make the most of the increased exposure and community support that Small Business Month brings.”
There are plenty of ways for businesses to get involved, from taking part in the dedicated Nambucca Valley News Of The Area advertising feature, promoting the Shop Local competition to win a $200 gift card, to accessing free marketing resources, customising campaign materials and sharing weekly campaign content on their business’ socials.
Nambucca Valley News of the Area (NOTA) Advertising Manager Johnny Wilson said the campaign provided the chance to highlight NOTA’s position as a community partner.
“Many of our Nambucca Valley businesses see News Of The Area as a core voice in our community,” Mr Wilson said.
“Feedback from businesses regarding this initiative has been extremely positive. Many have already taken up the offer.
“There are still a few spaces left, should businesses be keen to get involved and take advantage of the special Shop Local campaign price – just $300 + gst for the four-week campaign.”
If businesses want to get involved in the NOTA Shop Local feature, they can contact Mr Wilson on 0499 532 449 or ads@newsofthearea.com.au
Businesses are encouraged to subscribe to Council’s business e-news to receive campaign updates, access free Shop Local promotional resources and templates, and stay informed about opportunities to get involved throughout October.
