ON Sunday, November 15, in conjunction with the Back to Bowra festivities on the Friday and Saturday, the Hub will be holding a triples bowls tournament with $1,800 cash prizemoney on offer.

When the new bowling and recreation hub opened in August 2024, Maurie Roberts, of Roberts Real Estate, generously donated a cash amount to the bowling committee.

This was to be put into an organised tournament decided by the powers that be.

Highly respected and much loved by the entire Nambucca Valley community, Maurie sadly passed away in August 2025 and is forever missed.

He played bowls at Nambucca Heads and travelled to every club in the valley and Coffs Harbour for a game of bowls. He loved Bowraville and for many, many years was the auctioneer at the Bowraville junior rugby league Melbourne Cup calcutta at the old sports and recreation club.

A gentleman with great integrity who could socialise with everyone he came in contact with.

The day on Sunday, 15 November is a “thank you” day to Maurie for all the time he spent at Bowra and also for his generosity and everlasting memories.

All players wishing to play in the tournament must have their teams selected and sent to Buncha on 0455 145 571 before Friday 13 November.

The cost is $75.00 per team, limited to the first 20 teams entered.

Thank you to Maurie and his family.
