DEAR News Of The Area,
RESIDING in Nambucca Heads, the closest capital city is Brisbane.
Being a civilised person I would like to travel in daytime hours, taking the train that leaves at approximately 3pm.
However this train terminates at Casino and passengers must make a four hour indirect coach trip to Brisbane.
The Transport NSW website inaccurately gives a 9.30pm arrival time in Brisbane.
My coach arrived at 10pm.
In contrast there is a train leaving Macksville at 10.30pm which arrives at Brisbane at 3.50am; this train is allowed to travel all the way to Brisbane.
The timing of this direct train is ridiculous and inconvenient.
These times are more suited to the transportation of animals, not humans.
The NSW Government is spending $40.3 million on the XPT Extension Project and there are supposedly 29 new trains to be delivered.
However, the service to and from Brisbane will remain ridiculously inconvenient; many developing countries have better rail services.
Trains are supposed to directly link major towns and cities.
Interrupted rail services to/from Brisbane should be abolished ASAP.
The people of the Mid North Coast should be encouraged to leave motor vehicles at home and travel by train.
A high speed rail service costing billions of dollars is not required.
Just provide civilised services on existing lines.
Regards,
Greg DOLAN,
Nambucca Heads.
