Man faces court over South West Rocks motorcycle fatality in April 2026

A 73-year-old man has been charged with negligent driving occasioning death following a fatal motorcycle crash at South West Rocks earlier this year.

About 5pm on Sunday 5 April 2026, emergency services were called to Gregory Street, near Spencers Creek Road, South West Rocks, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended and found that a male rider had crashed on the road before becoming trapped under a nearby vehicle.

Emergency services worked to free the rider before he was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for critical injuries; however, he died at the scene.

A crime scene was established and officers attached to Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries into the cause of the crash.

Following investigations, a man was issued a Court Attendance Notice on Tuesday 16 June 2026 for the offence of negligent driving occasioning death.

The man, 73, will appear before Kempsey Local Court on Thursday 3 September 2026.
