THE Our Sustainable Future Expo will soon offer interested attendees a community-led roadmap to a sustainable and more resilient tomorrow.
Born from a unique collaboration between the Nambucca Valley Growers and Producers Association Incorporated (NVGPA) and the Unkya Reserve Committee of Management, the Expo will aim to drive the awareness and adoption of everyday sustainable practices at home or on the farm.
“This free-flowing community day out is all about creation, connection, and community,” said co-organiser Lee Maddox.
This year’s Expo will be held on 28 June between 9am and 4pm at the Unkya Reserve, Eungai Creek.
It will focus on inspirational presentations including: budget friendly strategies for saving money in 2026, Sustainable Weather Futures (Graham Creed), Earth Laws and Stewardship (Michelle Maloney); Local Food Matters (panel with Rachel Ward (FarmThru), Julie Humphris (LaunchPad), Nicole Cisterne (North Arm Farms),Craig Bellamy (Bellamy & Sons), sparking our interest in all things solar and electric (Geoff Tosio) and demonstrations focused on sustainable ideas for the home or on the farm including composting, fermenting, building a tool library and basket weaving.
Beyond the presentation and demonstration marquees, the Expo will feature a marketplace with more than 20 dedicated exhibits and stalls showcasing local services, circular economy breakthroughs, and eco-friendly solutions.
The ‘Local Food Matters Showcase’, courtesy of the Nambucca Valley Growers and Producers Association, will centre on connecting visitors directly with local food producers.
Family arts and crafts activities suitable for children will also be available throughout the day.
The Our Sustainable Future Expo’s aim will be to support attendees to take a step toward regional food and water security, waste minimisation, and climate resilience.
