Remediation works to begin on landslipsACROSS Nambucca Valley

REMEDIATION work to repair around 90 landslips across the Nambucca Valley will begin in February after Nambucca Valley Council secured disaster recovery funding from the NSW Government.

The extensive program follows major flood events in 2022 and 2025, which caused widespread damage to roads and surrounding infrastructure, particularly in rural and hillside areas.

Council’s General Manager Bede Spannagle, said the Disaster Recovery Projects team has already completed a significant amount of groundwork to ensure the remediation program can move forward efficiently and safely.

“It’s excellent to see multiple remediation projects getting underway this year to fix some significant landslips, caused by earlier flood events,” Mr Spannagle told News of The Area.

“Our community will be seeing contractors hit the ground for the next two to three years to carry out remediation work at up to 90 landslip sites.”

Early to mid-2026 will see major remediation works take place on several key roads across the valley, including Johns Bridge on Missabotti Road at Missabotti, Piggot Street at Nambucca Heads, River Street in Macksville, Riverside Drive in Nambucca Heads, Taylors Arm Road at Congarinni, Burrapine and Thumb Creek, Upper Buckra Bendinni Road at Buckra Bendinni, and Welshes Creek Road at Talarm.

From February 2026, residents can expect to see surveyors in the field conducting detailed geotechnical and hydrological investigations, followed by work crews and heavy plant carrying out repairs to stabilise slopes, rebuild damaged road structures and improve long-term resilience of the network.

Council has thanked residents and road users for their patience as the works roll out and has reminded motorists to drive safely and follow all temporary traffic controls and road closure signage that may be in place.

To find out whether remediation works are planned for a particular location, residents can visit Council’s website and view the disaster recovery interactive map titled NVC Natural Disaster Recovery Works Updated – 10/09/2025.

The Antenno smartphone app is also available for download and will provide real-time notifications about works happening in specific areas across the valley.
