Volunteers celebrated on National Meals on Wheels Day

NATIONAL Meals on Wheels Day was celebrated around the country on 27 August, with Lifetime Connect recognising the local volunteers who make the service possible in the Nambucca Valley.

Under this year’s theme, “Aged Care You Can Count On”, Meals on Wheels continues to be a trusted, reliable presence in the lives of older Australians, especially as the aged care sector continues to evolve.

“For more than 50 years, the Lifetime Connect Meals on Wheels service has delivered more than just meals to the community,” said Stacey Munro, Lifetime Connect Manager of Aged, Community Wellness and NDIS Services.

“We bring nourishment, safety and a friendly face to some of the most vulnerable people in our community – and we do it with heart.”

Each day, Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver more than just freshly prepared meals; they bring smiles, connection, and a friendly check-in that helps people stay independent in their own homes.

“It feels great to be part of something bigger – a movement built on compassion, trust, and the spirit of community,” said Kim Peterkin, Lifetime Connect Meals Coordinator.

“Every meal we deliver is a chance to connect and make someone’s day a little brighter.”
