WITH menacing clouds looming, a large crowd assembled in Stuarts Point to witness the 2026 Anzac Day march, before gathering at the village’s cenotaph for a well-attended 11am memorial service.
Stuarts Point RSL sub-Branch president Wayne Mason welcomed attendees to the solemn yet uplifting occasion.
“We are so pleased to have five schools represented at this service, as well as the ongoing support from Kempsey Shire Council, our local Rural Fire Service and the Hall Committee,” he said.
Representing the Salvation Army from Kempsey was Rachael Farthing, who again gave a salient and moving address.
By 11.50am the collected cache of commemorative wreaths were being placed at the base of the Cenotaph as the crowd dispersed, many heading for the Stuarts Point Workers and Recreation Club for the annual playing of ‘Two-Up’.
