A SIGNIFICANT program of road repairs and resurfacing is set to begin across the Nambucca Valley, with crews moving in to address potholes and ageing sealed road surfaces.
Nambucca Valley Council will commence the works next week, focusing on improving road conditions across several towns in the local government area.
“From next week, community members will see traffic controllers and a road work crew out repairing sections and resealing local roads in Valla Beach, Macksville, Nambucca Heads, Scotts Head and Warrell Creek,” Council General Manager Bede Spannagle said.
“Importantly, to help the road crew, residents living in homes on the streets listed below need to not park their car on the streets on the work program’s days.
“I thank the community for their assistance to park vehicles off-street or in a neighbouring street, so we can carry out the road resealing program.”
The works will take place over the next two to three weeks, weather permitting, and will involve both road rehabilitation and bitumen resealing across a range of locations.
In Valla Beach, Buchanan Street will be worked on from 4–8 May, with Thompson Street scheduled from 5–8 May.
Macksville will see activity across several streets, including West Street and Station Street from 4–8 May, followed by Nambucca Street, East Street, River Street and Egan Lane from 5–8 May, Glenmore Drive from 13–15 May, and Dirkin Street from 14–16 May.
In Nambucca Heads, Newman Street is scheduled for 6–8 May, Liston Street from 7–8 May, Willunga Avenue on 14 May, and Riverside Drive at the side road and carpark intersection from 11–15 May.
Scotts Head works will include Hill Street and Vernon Street on 4 May, along with South Pacific Drive on 15–16 May.
At Warrell Creek, Mill Lane and O’Dells Lane are due for works from 5–8 May.
Council has advised that potholes and pavement failures are often the result of heavy rainfall and ongoing traffic loads, which place increasing pressure on road surfaces.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the works and report any road issues through the Antenno mobile application.
The free app provides real-time updates on Council activities and allows users to report potholes and other concerns directly to Council via their smartphone.
