KEY Community Group and Becoming U have partnered on a new youth-led mural project at The Youthie in Nambucca Heads, bringing local young people together to transform one of the centre’s walls into a vibrant reflection of their ideas, creativity and connection to community.
“Over the coming weeks, young people will work alongside facilitators to design and paint the mural, creating a space that celebrates belonging, youth voice and community pride,” youth coordinator Chonnie Mallie told News Of The Area.
The mural project is being developed with young people from the outset, ensuring their experiences and perspectives shape the final artwork.
The artwork has begun with a group of students from Macksville High School helping to kick-start the creative process.
Key Community Group and Becoming U share a commitment to empowering young people as active contributors to their communities, and the completed mural will be a visible reminder of the positive impact young people can have when given opportunities to lead, create and connect.
The mural is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
