SPECTACULAR lines of antique, classic cars and hot rods were at their gleaming best for visitors and locals at venues across the Nambucca Valley during the 48th annual Valla Park Rod Run.
Sydney’s Drag-ens Hot Rod Club began hosting the event in 1977, featuring hot rods from 1948 and older vintage vehicles.
This year’s Rod Run attracted around 350 entries participating in the week-long activities.
The Valla Rod Run is believed to be the longest-running, free Rod Run in the world.
News Of The Area caught up with the hot rods on High Street, Bowraville on Tuesday, 29 September and Nambucca Heads on Saturday morning, 3 October for the Show and Shine, with Bowra Street closed to through traffic.
1924 Graham Brothers truck owner, Jason O’Bryan of Wyong, has been to every event since 2005.
Mr O’Brien owns a 1932 Ford Roadster, but it was the first time his 1924 Graham Brothers truck has been back for 13 years.
“I completely rewired and rebuilt the 1924 truck when I bought it 17 years ago,” he said.
“I went to Ireland a few years ago and got addicted to Guinness.
“So for a bit of fun I put the Guinness barrel on the back. It’s actually a toolbox.”
First-time entrant Jo Byrne, from Mooloolah Valley in Queensland, is keen to return.
She owns a 1958 Pontiac but brought along her 1932 Ford two-door delivery van to the Rod Run.
