Council outlines plans for unsealed road upgrades

WITH work recently completed along Missabotti Road to Jack Gorleys Bridge, Nambucca Valley Council’s grading crew is continuing its program of maintaining the Valley’s extensive network of unsealed roads.

The team is now set to move into the Yarranbella and Whip Mountain areas as part of its ongoing maintenance schedule.

Nambucca Valley Council acting general manager David Moloney said maintaining the region’s gravel roads remains one of council’s major infrastructure responsibilities.

“One of council’s key infrastructure maintenance tasks is grading thousands of kilometres of gravel roads across the Nambucca Valley,” he said.

“Council delivers its unsealed rural road maintenance program by employing a dedicated five-personnel grading team.

“Our five-team member crew and their grader, tip truck and trailer, and water cart, will move to Simpsons Ridge Road, South Arm, next. Expect minor delays if you live off roads near Simpsons Ridge Road in the coming weeks, weather depending.”

Following work in the South Arm area, the crew is expected to continue its program, weather permitting, across a number of roads between late June and mid-July.

Scheduled works include Bakers Creek Road at Bakers Creek, Greenhills Road through Bakers Creek and Upper Taylors Arm, and Dyers Loop Road at Argents Hill.

As part of the maintenance process, the grading crew undertakes a range of tasks designed to improve road conditions and drainage.

These works include grading the road surface, clearing debris from stormwater pipes and removing unstable material from embankments.

Council is encouraging residents to report issues affecting unsealed roads through the free Antenno smartphone app.

The app allows users to receive notifications about locations important to them and enables residents to submit photographs and details of road concerns directly to council.

Alternatively, residents can contact council by phone on 6568 2555.
