Council road maintenance crew on the move across Nambucca Valley

NAMBUCCA Valley Council’s road crew is carrying out a month-long maintenance program across the Nambucca Valley.

The five-person crew finished grading Taylors Arm Road at Utungun last week before moving on to Mitchells Road at Valla, and then the Newee Creek area.

“Council’s team has been working hard to get across the valley in the past few weeks,” Acting General Manager, David Moloney said.

“They finished preparing Taylors Arm Road to have it in good condition and ready for extra traffic this week, while neighbouring Boat Harbour Road at Sauls Dairy is closed for essential culvert replacement works.

“Next, they head to Newee Creek to grade the roads off Wirrimbi Road, including Gordons Knob, Birds, and Soldier Settlers roads.”

Motorists should expect minor delays and are urged to look out for the team’s traffic control signs.”

The grading program for mid-September to late October 2026 includes:

• Mitchells Road, Valla – from 14-15 September.
• Newee Creek area roads, Soldier Settlers Road, Birds Road, and Gordons Knob Road – from around 16-18 September.
• Valla Road, Valla – week starting 21 September for two weeks.
• Welshs Creek Road, Taylors Arm Road, Williams Hill Road, and Lemans Road, Taylors Arm area – 2-3 weeks from about 7 October.

Maintaining unsealed roads usually includes grading the road surface, clearing debris from stormwater pipes, and removing unstable material from embankments.

The best way to let the council know about the condition of an unsealed road is to download Antenno, a free mobile app.

“Through Antenno, you can save locations you wish to receive Council notifications about,” Mr Moloney said.

“You can also take a photo of a section of unsealed road, upload it, and submit it to Council via the app.”
