NAMBUCCA Valley Red Cross is celebrating a milestone for Lesley Smith, its longest-serving member.
On 9 October, its local Emergency Services Team will mark 30 years of service to the Red Cross and her community.
Over her three decades of volunteering with Australian Red Cross, Ms Smith has responded to numerous evacuation and recovery emergencies.
“Lesley continues to be a very active and valuable member of the team,” a spokesperson said.
“Her support for people who are experiencing perhaps the most difficult time of their lives has been exceptional.”
Ms Smith also volunteers to deliver Outreach and Community Recovery workshops to groups, preparing them to cope in an emergency.
“Her unwavering commitment to our local and interstate communities before, during and after a disaster over 30 years is a true testament to her,” a spokesperson added.
“Because of Lesley, our community is better, stronger, and safer.”
Ms Smith’s fellow volunteers will celebrate her milestone with her on 17 October at a luncheon at Nambucca RSL Club.
