RAIN, hail or shine, the show must go on, and that’s exactly what happened at the 2025 Macksville Show last Friday and Saturday.
While Friday’s Locals Day basked in perfect autumn weather, Saturday brought steady rain, but the spirit of the long-standing community event remained unshaken.
Friday saw strong attendance as crowds enjoyed horse and cattle judging, well-supported ring events, and a bustling pavilion, which this year featured a fresh twist with a dining room stocked with local food from regional producers.
The initiative proved a hit with visitors and highlighted the show’s ongoing commitment to supporting local enterprise.
Community engagement was again a feature of the show, with many community groups present, reflecting the show’s role as a centrepiece of Nambucca Valley life.
Saturday may have been wet, but it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of attendees and organisers.
Under grey skies, a full program of crowd favourites powered on including ring events such as the the thrilling dog jump, the now legendary kids’ lolly scramble, lawn mower races, the ever-popular Extreme FMX stunt show, fireworks display and the demolition derby which delivered more than its usual dose of mud-slinging excitement due to the wet conditions.
Other highlights included the poultry pavilion, creative displays from local schools, and the classic charm of sideshow alley and carnival rides, which continued to buzz with energy despite the showers.
“Without a dedicated team of volunteers and sponsors, there would be no show and I praise the resilience and commitment of all involved,” show President Michael Ettelson told News Of The Area.
“This year’s event was made possible by generous support from major sponsors, including Oz Group, NV Property, Inspiration Realty, GJ Kennedy & Co, and the NSW Farmers Federation, all of whom understand how important shows such as this are to rural communities.”
As it has done in previous years, the Macksville Show brought the community together in celebration of agriculture, family, local talent, and good old-fashioned country fun.
