PART of Grassy Head Road will close to all vehicles on Friday, 28 August but remain open during other peak morning and afternoon travel times up to this date, Monday to Thursday, to accommodate school buses and high-volume traffic.
Traffic during the open period will travel via a one-lane contraflow arrangement and motorists should expect delays of around five to 10 minutes.
The section of Grassy Head Road that will be closed at times is located near the intersection of Scotts Head Road and extends south for about 250m to approximately 865 Grassy Head Road.
This section of road is receiving pavement rehabilitation.
“We have listened to our community and our infrastructure team has changed its program to open one lane of the road, at a time, to vehicles up until approximately 8.30am in the morning, and after 3.30pm in the afternoon and overnight, construction days,” said Nambucca Valley Council acting general manager David Moloney.
he said.
The road will still close to all vehicles between 8:30am and 3:30pm Mondays to Thursdays and on Friday 28 August.
“This road closure is necessary because excavators and the other plant cannot operate safely without it, due to the narrow width of Grassy Head Road and minimal road shoulders,” Mr Moloney said.
When the road closures are in effect, all vehicles will need to detour via Stuarts Point and the Pacific Motorway.
The only exceptions are vehicles driven by residents who live directly adjacent to the work site, and whose driveways intersect the work site.
Driveway access will be maintained, under the guidance of traffic control.
If community members have any questions about the work, they can contact Council on (02) 6568 2555, visit the Council website or download Council’s Antenno app.
