Tourism push raises Nambucca Valley’s online profile

THE Nambucca Valley’s online tourism profile is set to receive a significant boost after around 10 local businesses volunteered to participate in a professional photography shoot and workshop organised by Council.

The initiative forms part of Nambucca Valley Council’s ongoing work to strengthen the local government area’s presence on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW), a national platform for tourism listings and destination information.

Council General Manager Bede Spannagle said strong progress had been made on the valley’s destination branding project, with local businesses enthusiastically supporting the ATDW initiative.

“The tourism businesses and our valley’s natural environment are second to none, so it’s great to see work has advanced to boost our valley’s profile and grow our tourism industry,” he said.

“Delivering an updated destination brand was one of the key actions identified in Council’s Delivery Program and Economic Development & Tourism Strategy 2025/26 – 2029/30 and work is progressing on it.

“Local tourism operators and hospitality businesses have also gotten behind bolstering our valley’s brand on the ATDW, which is an action that over time will support visitor attraction to our valley.”

In late April, Council’s tourism team hosted an ATDW workshop at the Nambucca Heads TAFE Connected Learning Centre, where participating tourism and hospitality operators learned more about using the platform effectively.

Businesses involved in the workshop also received professional imagery of their operations to assist with their online promotion and listings.

Council Manager Economic Development and Tourism Janice Rooney said improving the valley’s visual presence on the ATDW would deliver long-term benefits for the region.

“Supporting our local businesses to get listed on the ATDW means when large, global tourism websites like Qantas, Accor Vacation Club, and Visit NSW provide information on places to visit, the Nambucca Valley will be found and look great,” she said.

“I’d like to thank all of our local businesses who volunteered their time to get listed on ATDW – your actions, and further work we plan to do, will raise the profile of our valley and make it an even more attractive place to visit.”

Council plans to hold additional free ATDW workshops and photography shoots for local tourism businesses in the future.
