A homecoming to remember as Nambucca Roosters Juniors return to Coronation Park

AFTER a two-year absence, junior rugby league has made a triumphant return to Coronation Park, with the Nambucca Roosters Juniors hosting their first home games in what was a milestone weekend for the club and community.

Nine Nambucca teams took to the field across Friday night and Saturday, marking a significant moment for local sport and signalling a strong revival of junior rugby league in Nambucca Heads.

The weekend kicked off under lights on Friday night, with the under 15 girls delivering a dominant 48–0 victory over Woolgoolga, while the under 17 girls fought hard in a close contest, narrowly going down 10–6.

A strong crowd turned out to support the opening night, creating an electric atmosphere as the Roosters returned to their home ground.

Saturday’s matches saw visiting teams from Kempsey, Smithtown and Woolgoolga, with Nambucca fielding sides across a wide range of age groups including under 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 mixed teams, as well as under 14 boys and the under 15 and 17 girls squads.

Nambucca Roosters Junior Rugby League President Jeff Cork said the return to Coronation Park was a proud and emotional moment for the club.

“To have our kids back playing on home soil after two years away is incredibly special,” Mr Cork News Of The Area.

“This weekend was about more than just results, it was about community and seeing the next generation of Roosters enjoying their footy in front of family and friends again.”

He said the strong turnout and participation across all age groups was a positive sign for the future of the club.

“There’s a real energy building again around junior footy in the Nambucca Valley, and seeing so many teams, volunteers and supporters come together shows just how important this club is to our community,” he said.
