WELL-KNOWN local artist Margrit Richenbach will channel the inspiration of her late husband, Claude Teyssier, as she leads a workshop crafting fish kites and flags ahead of the November Back to Bowra Street Festival.
Mr Teyssier and Ms Richenbach were renowned for creating huge, light-lantern sculptures that featured at community events such as the Camden Haven River Festival in Laurieton and the Bowraville Night Christmas Festival. Many of Mr Teyssier’s light sculptures were donated to the Glasshouse Gallery at Port Macquarie.
The couple emigrated from France in 2001, chose to live and work in Bowraville, and opened the gallery, Atelier.
It was here that Mr Teyssier produced more than 400 paintings.
Ms Richenbach will conduct kite and flag-making workshops on October 5, 6 and 7 at the Pioneer Community Hall, 70 High Street, Bowraville.
The workshops will provide opportunities for creatives of all ages to have fun and express themselves.
The cost for materials is $10; apart from that, participants are asked only to bring curiosity and a willingness to have a go.
During their workshop, participants will complete a 1.5-metre fish kite that they can take home.
Ms Richenbach hopes the workshops will inspire more people to create sculptures and flags to donate for festival decorations.
The workshop dates and times are: Monday, 5 October 10am – 2pm; Tuesday, 6 October 10am – 2pm; and Wednesday, 7 October 11.15am – 3pm. RSVP to 0457 159 473.
