YARRAHAPINNI surf sensation Avalon Vowels has taken out the under 18s girls division at the North Coast Regional Titles, in solid preparation for the NSW state titles in May.
Held at Emerald Beach in one-to-two foot conditions on Sunday 22 March, Avalon proved too strong for other North Coast representatives Chelsea Darling, Olivia Ottaway and Poppy Ensbey in the Surfing NSW Junior Regional Series event hosted by the Woolgoolga Boardriders Club.
Avalon, a member of the Scotts Head Boardriders Club, told NOTA, “My result on Sunday was first place in the under 18 girls division.
“This solidified my position in the NSW state team, and the state titles which will be held at the end of May.
“In my final I scored a combination of 17 points, achieved with two single scores of 8.50.
“This was the highest total across the board for the North Coast Regional Titles.
“This put all of the other competitors in a combination situation which meant that they needed multiple excellent scores to move into first place.
“Now I have qualified for State Titles in May and will hopefully, dependant on my results in State, qualify for the Australian Titles.”
