AS a point of difference and to add local interest to the club, Stuarts Point and District Garden Club held a photo competition for their members.
The competition attracted 46 entries and was judged by local nature photographer Jenny Johnson.
Judging results were displayed at the club’s regular community meeting held on 3 June.
“I enjoyed my morning and was impressed with the amount of detail that goes into each section of the separate displays,” Ms Johnson said.
“I had a difficult task choosing the first place in each category of photos because they were all so good.”
Displays during the judging included both living flora and photographs.
The photo competition covered three sections:
- Close up Flower or Foliage – A single flower or foliage
- Garden Scene – A scene in your garden or a favourite area
- Garden Visitor – For example, wildlife.
Following the blind judging, Stuarts Point garden club member Mary-Lou Lewis was announced the overall winner.
Ms Lewis was not in attendance on the day but enjoyed a round of applause over the telephone.
The people’s choice award went to Yvonne Chegwidden.
