U3A Fishing for Fun

TAUNTING, the act of mocking to upset, is not a regular fishing term.

It does however seem to be part of the vocabulary of some fish.

A school of mullet constantly swam back and forth near the riverbank “taunting” us at Gumma Reserve recently as not one mullet paused to even try our bait.

Luckily the bream on the other hand has a different philosophy. That being “see food, eat food”. That explains why only bream were caught that day.

The best bream was caught by Bernadette with Morelle, Jenny and Felicity, catching one each. The rest of us had to be content with fish tales of days past.

Our Coordinator Greg Artlett, wandered back and forth, encouraging us, throwing out berley and handing out handy tips.

If you want to hear Greg’s words of wisdom just contact him on 0427689400 and he will arrange for you to join the U3A Fishing for Fun Group.

Next month we will be fishing on the banks of the Nambucca River in front of the Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club.
