Community encouraged to commemorate Anzac Day

NAMBUCCA Valley Mayor Gary Lee is encouraging the community to honour the memory of Australia’s military veterans and those currently serving, by attending a local Anzac Day service on Saturday, 25 April.

“Anzac Day comes with pride and a lot of traditions,” Councillor Lee said.

“Between the early morning sunrise salutes, street marches, cenotaph services, and the games like two-up, there’s a lot to get involved with to honour our past and serving defence personnel.

“I encourage everyone to get out and reflect on the importance of our ANZACs on Saturday, as well as those who served in the Korean War at Macksville’s Kapyong Sunset Service on Friday 24 April at 5.30pm.”

The Returned Services Leagues of Nambucca Valley have requested approval for the temporary closure of local streets for the purpose of Anzac Day dawn services and marches.

The closures are proposed for Saturday 25 April 2026 at these times and locations:

– Macksville: Dawn service – Wallace Lane, Princess and River Streets between Mackay Street and Cooper Street from 4.45am to 6.30am. Then later in the morning at Winifred, Princess, Wallace, Cooper and River Streets to Mackay Street from 10.15am to 12.30pm.
